Fly fishing and Michigan's Upper Peninsula just simply go together! With the great water levels and cool temps the trout and steelhead conditions are absolutely prime right now! As far as the steelhead go the swing bite has been very active with fresh fish coming into the system, actively spawning fish doing there thing and the drop backs have really put the feed bag on as well!
With the trout opener last week came some super hot bows and browns. The trout were super active as they were hungry after coming out of their winter slumber. The hot bite for the trout in our neck of the woods was stones in black and brown, PTs, and princes -- oh and lets not forget about the rusty orange zirdle bug!
For the dry fly enthusiast BWOs, hennies, caddis and some early stones will be on the menu.
