Our U.P. steelhead fly fishing has been pretty tough the past couple weeks. Weather and water temps have been very cold (35-40 degree range) and has these fish acting like it's December not October. They are hanging in the slow water winter lies and the bite has been slow as well. Persistence, fishing slower/deeper pockets, and getting out when there is any little upswing in temps is key right now. Getting down deep and slow with beads has been consistently working (but emphasis on the work, it has been a lot of work to drum up a few hits/fish). The swing thing has been a swing and a miss (even with natural patterns these fish don't want to really move much right now). Warmer weather is coming next week and the fishing should be on fire. Give us a call we have a few dates available in November.
