What an absolutely amazing time to live in the U.P.. As of right now we are actively pursuing trout, smalljaws, steelhead and even though they are not a target fish for us the occasional pike. Water temperatures and levels are moving in the right direction now. With all of the rain weve had in the past couple of weeks most of our rivers and tributaries were barely fish-able or not fish-able but levels are falling fast and things are becoming comfortable. Water temperatures are on the rise with many of the larger bodies of water starting to level out in the upper 40s to low 50s and it will only get better as out daytime reach into the 60s in the coming week.
As far as the bass fishing goes large streamers such as D&Ds, circus peanuts and swinging D on full sinking lines are the ticket.
Steelhead are still keying in on egg patterns but DO NOT forget to put some smaller black stones, caddis and a few hexes in your box.
For trout well I always refer to the fact that Im a streamer junkie so again some D&Ds, zoo cougars, rattle snakes and peanuts. But keep your eyes peeled for caddis, and hennies.
Until next time be safe and may GOD bless you as he has so blessed me!!!
